I recently installed an ASUS A7N266-VN motherboard, AMD Duron 1300MHz CPU and 512MB of RAM. I kept my existing hard drive which has WIN 98SE installed. After installing the new hardware, I went through the installation of various drivers that the M/B required. After Windows had finished detecting all of the hardware, I realised that LPT1 had an exclamation mark in Control Panel>System. Apparently there is a conflict, but on clicking the Resources tab, the Conflicting Resources List is empty and a Set Configuration Manually button is present. I click the button and uncheck "Automatic Settings", but I am not allowed to change any of the settings. I have tried removing the parallel cable from the LPT1 socket and rebooting, but there is still a conflict. I have checked all the other devices listed but cannot see where the conflict lies. Can anyone help? |

After any major hardware change a clean install is often best. I just installed a couple mainboards and tried the old OS (OS = operating system) just for fun and it wouldn't even boot in either machine. |
