Hi all. Interesting problem here. I have a brand new floppy drive and two computers with nearly identical config (same mobo, etc). On computer A, the brand new floppy drive I bought does not work. On computer B it does. A second floppy I borrowed worked fine on computer A (not tested on B). ::shrug:: So I tinkered in the bios: set floppy A to 1.44 (as it is) and I get a floppy read error. Set it to 720 and it boots, but does not read the disk. I set the bios to failsafe and set the floppy drive to 1.44 and still gives me floppy failed. All connections are secure, the cable is in correctly (tested the other way and sure enought the light stays on) so I know it is connected properly... what in the world could be going on here? I'm at a loss... |

Oh, forgot to mention, here are the computer's specs: VIA KT133A|5P3D TURBO2 6330 MSI CHTECH GF4 MX420 64M G423/TV RT AMD|1600+/266 ATHLON 1.40G XP SDRAM 256M|32X64 PC-133 D-KINGSTON The second computer I mentioned is the same except it has a SoundBlaster LIVE card in it. Dunno if any of that will help, but I really appreciate any help given! |

Ok, apparently I didn't have the cord backwards, but I had it upside down... if that makes any sense. ^^;; |

Common mistake to hook these up wrong, its a wonder they don't mark them or something. |
