When I turn on my p.c. I get the usual bios screens detecting everything and then the Win98 screen comes on.Then this is where the problem starts, the monitor (a15")will turn itself off,the hard drive continues to boot up but no pic on the screen.I have tried a different monitor(14") and had no problems at all, all was as it should be.When I put the 15" monitor back on it does what I described at the beginning. The mobo is a ECS K7SEM with a 1.3ghz Duron cpu and 256mb memory.Using on board graphics. The vga is set to plug&play monitor.I have also built another one exactly the same with no probs at all with a 15" monitor.
All suggestions gratefully received

knock the refresh rate down or the resolution with the 14" hooked up than reconnect the 15" monitor you may have selected a refresh rate compliant with the 14" but not the 15".

Basically you are out of range for the 15" to work in Windows.

Thanks E.S. should have thought of it myself instead of assuming that the machine would do it for me!! Worked a treat.
