Can I use my TV as a monitor...?

Sure many video cards have an output for TV RCA or S video.

I have done this a few times with Radeon cards.

The problem is th TV resolution is so low that a game or graphics don't look to bad but it is near impossible to read normal size text (say size 12-14 font).

Because of this using a TV as a monitor makes performing even basic functions tricky as its like all of sudden having a vision impairment. Possibly some of the newer high definition TV's might be better.
