Ijustboughta CenDyne 52X24x52X external CDRW
, supposedly state ofthe art.It was supposed to come with a USB2.0card but that was a mistake in the ad, but finally they sent me a card. THe ad also said itworked with Windoes98sE, but that was a mistak\e too. So i got XP. Then i tried to install the USB card that they finally sent me. Very weird- it doesn't quite fit the slot. The tab doesn't quite make it to the screw. So ileft it loose on the tab,but firmly seated in the slot.,
Still, it won't install. Nothing wrong with the install program(from disk) but nothing shows up in Device Manager. ] The hardware is connected properly, lights up etc.,but nothing works.
It looks like very little on this site gets answered any more, but if anyone can help... l

The problem with most USB 2.0 PCI cards or any PCI card in general is IRQ's and PLUG and PLAY. XP has very good support for new hardware but it still needs to be setup properly for any Plug and Play O.S. If the card doesn't get detected as new hardware when XP starts, try the card in a different slot.
