Hi,

The PC Chips M572 motherboard manual specifies the follwoing memory configuration.

Total system memory = DIMM1 + SIMM1&2 + SIMM3&4

OR

Total system memory = DIMM1 + DIMM2 + SIMM3&4

PROBLEM:
--------
I have 2x8MB EDO RAM
2x16MB EDO RAM
2x64MB SDRAM

I tried the following configuration

NOT WORKING:
-----------
1) DIMM1 + SIMM1&2 --- not working (total system memory = 16MB + SIMM1&2)

2) DIMM1 + SIMM1&2 + DIMM2 -- not working (total system memory = 16MB + SIMM1&2 +DIMM2)

3) DIMM1 + SIMM1&2 + SIMM3&4-- not working (System does not boot)

Why are the configurations 1 & 3 not working ? Is the manual wrong or there is some other
problem?

WORKING:
--------
1) SIMM1&2 +SIMM3&4 ---- WORKING (total system memory = SIMM1&2 +SIMM3&4)

2) DIMM1 +SIMM3&4 +DIMM2 -- WORKING (total system memory = DIMM1 +SIMM3&4 +DIMM2)

3) DIMM1 + DIMM2 --- WORKING (total system memory = DIMM1 + DIMM2)

4) SIMM1&2 --- WORKING (total system memory = SIMM1&2)

5) SIMM3&4 --- WORKING (total system memory = SIMM3&4)

6) DIMM1 --- WORKING (total system memory = DIMM1)

7) DIMM2 --- WORKING (total system memory = DIMM2)

DIMM1 + DIMM2 + SIMM3&4
64 meg dimms are all that board will support apparently if 128 meg is max. Because DIMM 2 shares the same address lines as simm1 and 2 all slots can not be populated.
