I am stuck about what these processor devices do/are used for in the computer - am told they all do different (have different functions) things, can you help? AMD XP 2GHz CYRIX 667 MHz INTEL P III 1.0 GHz |

They're all different brands of CPUs (Central Processing Units), but they all do basically the same thing. They're brain of a computer. The speed of a processor is normally rated in Hertz, in this case either MegaHertz or GigaHertz (Though raw clock speed isn't necessarily the end-all for rating processor performance, just a defacto benchmark). For example: the Intel PIII 1.0 GHz is the 1-Gigahertz Pentium Three processor made by Intel. |
