I have an IBM 27 GB HD. My motherboard has 4 IDEs. When I put the HD in the third IDE by itself on its own cable, it doesnt show in my computer and it isnt detected. why? |

If the drive isn't fdisked in win98 it won't show up without a valid partition. If in winxp make sure that the ide controller the Hard drive is connected to is properly installed or at least enabled in the bios. |

You should also check the jumpers on the HDD and make sure it is setup as Master. |

The controller on the mainboard is what I was referring to. Make sure the drive is recognized in the Bios. |
