I have an NT server running two mirrored 4Gb SCSI drives using an Adaptec 2940UW PCI adapter. They are ID 0 and 1 on the 68 pin internal bus of the adapter and drive 1 is terminated. Life was gooooood.. Then I had to install an HP T20 20 Gb tape drive. I installed it as the only device on the 50 pin internal bus. It is ID 6 and it is terminated and it works fine. The problem is, drive 1 of my mirrored pair becomes undetectable when I have the cable attached to the tape drive.
Any Ideas would be Greatly Appreciated !

Make sure you have your termination scheme correct on the 68 pin bus. I was informed by Seagate tech support yesterday that poor termination may allow perfectly good performance under certain circumstances, while other configurations won't support data transfer. You don't have any outboard devices do you? The 2940 won't support devices on more than two of it's three interfaces. NT is notoriously picky when it comes to tape drives. Do you have the correct drivers installed? Also, make sure that the adapter itself isn't using ID 6. Also, never buy HP. Ever. Fine printers, take a pass on the rest. Hope this helps...
