Can't see the video clearly

I bought a web camera (Logitech quick cam express),the problem is, I can't see the video clearly , it was too dark. I tried zooming the camera lens and also adjusted the brightness
and contrast, but the image is still too dark. Is there any problem with my camera or I have to put more light on my room. My OS is xp pro.
please help me
