Having installed a new Pacific Digital 52x24x52 cd-rw i cant get it to work. My computer recognises the devise and states that it is working correctly,but i cant get it to open and it makes a sort of ginding noise.Also the green light on the front stays on all of the time(is this normal)and my computer acts really slow and eventually freezes.

Check for bent pins or misplaced connections on the ide cable or you may just simply have a bad drive.
