hullo After much searching and reading i am at my wits end. this parallel port scanner works fine on a celeron 333 machine slot style cpu. I want to switch the unit to a socket 7 asus p55t2p4 with amd k6 2 500 cpu ( older stlye board but so much quicker). the software installs, the machine will do a calibration but when i go to scan it comes up with a communication error box with error code 0 x 00080800. it is using the same cables, power supply etc. so my assumption was a port problem?? changed the bios settings from normal to ecp to epp to ecp + epp and get the same problem each time. Okay must be the ribbon cable from motherboard to case. changed ribbon cable on mother board repeated process same issue. unit has a canon bjc 4000 hooked in this still prints. changed to a parallel cable box 4 way switching. units work fine on celeron but scanner fails with error on 500 mhz unit. have completely disconnected all units, powered down scanner, reset checking all connections to no avail. am about to launch said unit in a ballistic type orbit. apart from leaving unit hooked to older slower celeron does anyone have any clues ideas suggestions to resolve this regards roger |

Chances are you are running the board overclocked which runs the PCI bus as well as the ISA interface significantly out of spec and chances are pretty good the scanner is having a hard time coping. That board as good as it was for overclocking is still at the mercy of legacy specifications. |
