Hi, Just got a new computer with AMD Athlon 2400 XP CPU and checked in the BIOS and the FSB is set at 100. Can I increase this and if so, is it safe to do so? Will it make a difference in performace? I noticed this because I think the company I got it off were trying to rip me off because when I get it, it said the CPU was Athlon 1800 but I was told the FSB was wrong and that's why but the FSB was still 100. Were they ripping me off? Thanks! |

Athlon 1800XP chips run at 133/266 so your FSB should be set from 100 to 133MHz. The 2400XP came in two options the first being the afforementioned 133/266 which runs at 2GHz. The second option was at 166/333 which runs at 1.83GHz. As far as performance goes with AMD and 100 or 133/166 memory settings it does make a difference. |
