I have a Abit motherboard Socket 423 with 400 Mhz FSB and I plan to put in a Pentium 4 chip. Now , P4 chips from 1.3 to 1.7 Ghz are socket 423 but I found an adapter so that I can use a socket 478 chip on a Socket 423 MB. This increases my choice of P4's to the 2 Ghz and up range. Or does it? Can I use a P4 chip rated for 533 or 800 FSB on a MB with a 400 FSB? |

Sometimes you can if the board has 133 memory support (133X4=533)but I doubt you can get a 800 FSB to work. |
