I have a Gateway PC, and can't get the drivers for the onboard sound output, so I installed a Sound Blaster CT 2680 I had laying around. I would like to know if I'm doing any damamge by having 2 sound devices on this PC, one being active and the other inert, plus, when I boot up, I get the new hardware detected(onboard sound device) how do I disable it? Great SITE!!!!!! |

If there isn't a way to disable the onboard audio via cmos setup than your probably looking at disabling the device in windows and hope that no resources are being used by it. Let Windows detect it and not install drivers. Than go to device manager from whatever version of windows you are using and disable the device in all profiles for 95/98/Me or disable the device in XP. Good Luck and Gods Speed! |
