A work computer that runs some production equipment has recently started getting a pop up window that says "Your computer cannot go on standby because a device driver or program will not allow it. Close all open programs and then try again." This PC is a 550MHZ PIII running windows 98SE. I have looked at windows power management and everything is set to never go to standby. I disabled power management in the BIOS. Device manager does show a driver issue with an unknown device and is looking for the PCI Multimedia Device Driver. I assume this is a sound card device but there is no PCI sound card and I turned of the integrated sound in the BIOS. This computer runs 24/7 and many people have the opportunity to play on it. I am not sure the driver issue is the cause because a program is also running 24/7 that logs data from the instrument to a network database. The window is easy enough to close but unfortunately stops the logging process until someone closes the pop up. Anyone have any ideas about how to stop this? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Dave |
