I have just installed a new gigabyte ga-8ig1000pro m/board with a 2.6ghz p4 chip. I used my old ibm deskstar hdd 40G with windows 2000 loaded. when i restarted the computer it stopped on the windows loading screen with the above stop error. I have checked the configuration of the master slave settings as well as the ide cable all seem to be o.k. I have tried to repair windows 2000 off the install cd but to no avail. I cannot run chkdisk as it says file not found when i boot from disk. Any suggestions appreciated.
All I have read on this issue and win2k is either dealt with as a bios update or some bios setting that is incorrect. Vague I know, since the board is new with a newer chipset try setting the cmos to defaults and go from there.
