Since clean installing WIN 98 SE my monitor will only work on 16 colours, 640 x 480 resolution.. all the webpages are blurry and most programmes as well. The display adapter is just standard vga that's all the info I can get on the sound card too. Dr Watson says my 3d accellarator isnt working and says that the drivers arent loaded for the E54 monitor. but they are. found a driver for it and installed it - and have tried the "update driver" in device manager. it says it's using the best one.
This monitor worked perfectly with win95, what's going on?? Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou

You need to install the correct video card drivers for your PC. If you can get back to us on the system specs we can point you in the right direction.

Thank you. yep - would have been helpful to add that huh. Pentium 1 150 running win98SE. Monitor is a IBM E54,(driver E54.ICM, F5D5000 Belkin network card. I have no idea about the manufacturer of the video card, just says "standard types" - 2 Meg of video ram. Standard PCI graphics adapter, (VGA) (vga.drv - Microsoft) I am guessing win 95 which it was running before had a better driver, else over the years I had 95 I picked up a better one from somewhere - I am thinking this is where the problem is. The monitor is only 6 months old and is capable of way better than it is doing at the moment. Hope this is more enlightening. Thanks again

Andrea,
The video card is in question here and without knowing the make and model of it a driver will be most difficult to come up with.
If you can pop the cover off the computer (with it turned off and unplugged of course) You can post back here with any identification markings on the card. Look at the biggest chip on the card for any Manufacturer name such as S3 trio or Cirrus.

It's a Legend 64 - tried downloading the driver for it. but when I try to change the graphics adapter, and browse to the c:\legend where the files are. it says "no driver here to suit your hardware"
Am lost now... thanks for your help again

Length Date Time Name
-------- ---- ---- ----
20480 05-27-97 15:54 Arkdd32.dll
30048 06-12-97 17:00 Ark.drv
4583 11-03-97 16:38 Ark.inf
15618 06-12-97 16:25 Ark.vxd
310784 08-01-97 16:25 propext.dll
151552 07-30-97 19:12 tvinit1.exe
-------- -------
533065 6 files
Make sure these 6 file names are in the folder.
Next step (and this one is very important) remove the standard vga adaptor from device manager and refresh, the hardware should be redetected at this time and from there you can direct it to the Legend folder and all should be well.
