I have been unable to solve this problem. On startup I get this: "Interface or CD-ROM not ready. (A) Abort? (R) Retry?" I have to select Abort every single time just to get started. But once the computer is started the CD-ROM actually works just fine. Reads both audio and data cd's, no problem with the tray, nothing. You would not know there was a problem except for startup. I have downloaded drivers, checked FAQ's everywhere...just can't get this to stop.

Running Win98; jumper set to master (it is not doubling on the hard drive cable...it has its own, plugged into the secondary IDE spot). None of the cabling should be a problem since that's how it was before with my old cd drive...everything looks right..number 1 pin where it says it should be...and also, it must be right since it actually works once started. It's just the boot thing where there is a problem. It is mega annoying.

Can anyone offer any insight?
