Funny Problem: I moved my Zip Drive to the second IDE chain on my IDE card. Everything was going fine until I tried to save a file to it, then, my system crashed hardcore, I had to do a hard shutdown. After this, the disk was stuck in it and I could not get it to eject. I had to press this button and yank it out with plyers. I rebooted and everything was peachy-keen. I tried it again and it said the disk needed to be formatted and then it crashed when I hit no. So I opened it up and made sure everything was connected right. Then I booted up again, this time without a disk, it wouldn't let me into windows, it said it was loading XP and then it stopped and went to a blank screen...I let it sit for about 10 minutes before a hard shutdown again. I took the zip drive off...it did it again. I took every device off of the IDE card and unplugged them all and started up, it worked fine, I tired to save to a floppy, it said it wasn't there, so I went and unplugged the floppy and turned the cable upside down it worked, but then it said that my Floopy Disk needed to be formatted. I took it to another computer and it just read and read and read the disk. I'm going to try the school's computers later today, I think both of my disks may have been eaten. Do you have any idea how to get all of this to work? I had the floppy on CHain two with a DVD-ROM that worked fine. On the mainboard's Chain 2 I had a CD-ROM and a CD-RW, both worked fine. On the 1st chain of the controller card I had two low-ent ATA drives, both worked fine. Everything was working perfectly until I tired to use the zip drive. Now, nothing will work on the IDE controller card...it just goes to that blank screen. Before any of this happened I ran a registry cleaner and it cleaned like 72 errors. Now I have honestly have no idea how to get this to work. |
