Why In heck am i getting this message? Setup is configured right..Even bought another controller card..Upgrading about a dozen 486 Zenith Data Systems for school and I've hit floppy hell...BTW..When i hold the Ctrl key it dont work. Thx.. |

Sounds like the machines have some drive interpolation software installed. What that does is when the OS ( ie DOS ) cannot understand the physical geometry of the hard disk drive, this interpolation software "tricks" it into understanding it. I know that's a kinda vague explanation but...This software is located I believe in the MBR of the drive, so it's not like a program you could see with a DIR command. Did this help ? |

Can I get more info please? What size and brand are the new hard drives? Does your system bios detect them correctly? Do you see a drive overlay loading at first? Also try installing the drive overlay software for the drive, it will format the drive and make it boot-able for you. Tell me the make of drive and I can tell you what overlay software to try. Also, you may see this message if you didnt make a partition active. or if you did not sys the drive. |
