Hey, I've got a question for a friend of mine. He's running an older HP with a 10 gig HDD and using onboard graphics. We tried using an old video card of mine, but that made crazy loud noises so we took it out. Now, with the vid card in or out, the computer doesn't start. It doesn't even boot, you press the power button and it sounds like its turned on, but NOTHING shows up on the screen. All of the lights on the computer (power and hdd) just stay lit, green and orange ones. NOTHING is happening at all, no boot screen or anything. Can anyone help? Thanks |

By installing the video card you may have inadvertantly caused problems with the BIOS on P.O.S.T. Unplug the computer and remove the small disk shaped battery from the mainboard. Leave it out for a few minutes than put it back in. That should clear the CMOS so you can reset time and date and configuration, ETC. If that doesn't work post back here, I have one more item you can try. If it does work post back here anyway so the members of the forum are not wondering what happened to GuitarGuy19. |
