depends on the controller, i have an 8gb drive that auto recognizes which mode to use. i also have an ibm drive that i had to disable the udma66. also it depends on the motherboard, too. read the faqs at the web site of the manufacterer of the drive and the motherboard. |

Many HD maker's have a software util that you need to download and run onc you have installed and setup the hard drive. These utils disable the UDMA 66, usually the same util will re-enable it if needs be. However, you usually only need to do this if you have problems. I would just hook it up and try to have your bios auto detect it. You wont hurt the drive. |
