I am running NT4.0
I just put in a second HD (Slaved to my Primary).

Booted up this morning and my floppy drive is a NO GO.
I checked all the cables and reinserted them. I plugged in a 4 hole power cable into the 4 pin connector and when I do that the Power light just stays on and the floppy just keeps spinning (w/o a disk in it).
I have put the cables in every which way to see if it would work, still no access to it.
Whenever I try to access the A:drive, it sends a message that the drive not ready.

What is supposed to be hooked up to the floppy?
Should I try a new cable?

Make sure the red stripe on the floppy cable is on pin 1. This goes for both ends.

Thanks,What about the 4 pin power cable?
Is there supposed to be one attached. When it is connected, the little light stays on all of the time.
BTW, every other power connector has a yellow wire that is always on the right hand side. should this be the same for the floppy?

There is only one way for it to go on with the little like legs fitting around the base part attached to the floppy. You should be able to look at it and logically see which way it goes. There are actually only two mandatory wires going to the power, black and red. When the light goes on from the time you turn your computer on and stays on, your cable is backwards.

trish,
Thanks for all the info.
Unfortunately, I have tried two cables and plugged them in every which way and still a NO GO. The light stays on no matter which way the plug is in. I am guessing that it is a broken FDD.
I am going to buy a new FDD and give that a try. Any advice on what I should get? I just want a plain ole FDD.

For whatever reason, it turned out that my original FDD was broken. I installed a new FDD and it worked right away.

THanks,
Jerold
