Does a laptop need the Battery inserted with the AC plugged in?
I am just wondering because I thought that you needed the battery inserted into the compartment even if you are plugged into the wall outlet. I happened to turn the laptop on without the battery inserted and it turned on, but I want to know if anything bad will happen?
thanks

Using a laptop without a battery will not harm anything. In fact, if you have an older laptop, it may help your battery life, by not allowing the battery to fully charge up and then get a "memory". It is best to have a cover for the battery bay in order to prevent a possible short between the contacts and something metallic.
