I hve just installed a new sound card and when I try to run a sound file from sound in control panel it starts and keep on playing a sound (just keeps repeating)It look like there is a conflict but system do's not show it. when I go to volume control panel the wave section has a row of square blocks up the side . I can stop the sound coming out the speakers by ticking mute |

Here come the questions: *What sound card did you install? *What operating system and version are you running? *Did you install the drivers from CD or diskette you received, or did you download new ones? *What I/O address and IRQ is the sound card using? (This can be found in the Device Manager by double-clicking on the sound card icon) This can be caused by an sharing conflict with I/O address and IRQ's, but usually is a result of a driver problem. |

I had a similar problem once, exactly as you described where the first 2 seconds of any wave file would simply repeat over and over. It didnt matter what sound card I put in, and there were no conflicts. The problem turned out to be a mother board issue and was cleared up by a BIOS update. The board was an FIC, I can't remember the model number. I think that since your problem is so similar to mine, it might be worth a try for you. C'ya |
