I have the above combination in an AMD k7 Athlon 600 Mhz computer, and the display doesn't want to work correctly. I install files from the V770 CD, but nothing works. It seems stuck in 16 colour mode, if I change this it crashes/won't boot next time and then I get asked to change settings (which I can't). I have DirectX 7 now (from a Diamond MX400 sound card), whereas the Video Card comes with 6.1, this doesn't matter does it?
It WAS working before, but now it isn't after brining it here. The only things I know I've changed were adding a network card (after troubles started, so I doubt it is related), and *I think* installing the sound card. I also had troubles with a USB mouse, but I'm concentrating on this at the moment. Any help would be much appreciated :)

I presume that the Viper is an AGP card? Do you have a PCI card in the slot next to the AGP slot?
A friend of mine had exactly this problem with an AGP graphics card, and his sound card in the next
PCI slot. For some reason this combination works very badly. As soon as he moved the sound card to a different PCI slot, the graphics card worked fine.

I hope that this helps,
