This is my problem. When I start my pc, the computer will sound one long beep and three short ones. When it does this, when the desktop finally boots up, I have many many white vertical lines all across the screen, and a softer white covering over all the desktop, although you can still barely make out the icons on the desktop. The more you move the mouse, the worse it gets. If I shut down the computer, sometimes it will boot up ok....sometimes it's the same thing over again. Sometimes when I reset during bootup, it boots again ok, but most times it doesn't. Often, when this happens, if I shut down the pc and start all over, it boots ok. Again, sometimes not. What is going on and what do the one long and three short beeps mean? Please email me on what I need to do...and post it here as well. Email me at eldeearr@hotmail.com. Thanks |

You have a POST error on boot up, this almost always indicates a hardware problem of some type. Without asking what kind of mainboard and bios you have, I will just go by your symptons. Sounds like you have a bad, or improperly mounted video card. I would try reseating your video card. |
