I am new at this "Net Work" and would like some help to get my two computers contected togather with a net work card, so that I can transfer a very large file. I am useing NT4, and have installed a "10/100" ethernet PCI card in both computers. But I do not know how to set them up, nor do I know what to look for to do the transfer work. The reason I am asking for help, is because I lost a upgrade CD for a 3-D graphic software, and I am unable to install it, unless I make a copy of the setup that is running in one of the computers. |

First you need a Category 5, RJ45 Patch cable (It MUST be this for 2 machines without a hub). Then just set up the cards under NT for TCP/IP or NetBEUI (Not sure if NetBEUI is in WinNT4, I'm running 98.) Then just share the directory where the software is installed and whamo! Instant network. : ) Be warned, your software may need certain registry entries and/or system files. If possible contact the vendor who sold you the upgrade, or the maker of the software and see if you can get a replacement. You'll probably need the proof of purchase from the box. If you need help setting up or where to get these cables, email me. cwtreez@worldnet.att.net |
