Have an Abit Kx133 with built in promise u/100 controller. Ibm gxp 15 gig hd Keeps losing it's partition. i've reformated, i've fdisk /mbr and reformated, Can't figure this one out. anybone have any ideas? |

Try running IBM's diagnostic utility. It can be downloaded from: http://www.storage.ibm.com/techsup/hddtech/welcome.htm#Drive fitness If the drive passes the tests, you may have a virus that keeps wiping out your hard drive. Use the "wipe" option in the utility to write zeros to every sector of the drive. There may also be a flash update for your drive. There have been a number of problems with UDMA controllers and particular drives. Try taking out the controller and just using the onboard IDE controller. If the problem goes away, you have your culprit. |
