I am serious problems with an additional HD installation in a Pavilion 4409. The additional HD was installed 3 months ago and had been functioning very well until yesterday. The computer began to take a longer than usual time to boot and also began freezing during programs. BIOS settings are OK and both HD are connected properly. The original HP drive is master and the newer drive (20gb Seagate) is slave. It appears almost as though the system has slowed down considerably (ie 15 min boot time). At other times it fails to boots altogether I have flashed the BIOS, fdisked all drives without any success. I suspected a HD failure and purchased a new HD (Fugitsu 10gb). However this is not the case as all three drives will function well as singe droives. I am able to run any of the drives induvidually without any problems. This situation is unusual as everything was functioning perfectly before |

There are a few good HP threads here, also including an experience I had installing a new hard drive. Use the keyword search on the left and search for hp. Set the "limit to" to No time limit. You can leave the other settings to default. You will get the various threads that way and hopefully they will help. |
