Please help! I have a 19" Hewlett Packard monitor I purchased with my system about 1 1/2 years ago. Due to my infrequent use of the computer however, it probably doesn't have more than 50 hours of run time on it. Recently, when I turned the monitor on, it started making a hissing sound and the display didn't come on for a couple of minutes. When it did come on, there were horizontal lines from top to bottom that were jiggling up and down and the hissing continued the entire time the monitor was on. It now does this every time I turn the monitor on. Although I can see the screen legibly, the jiggly lines and the hissing sound are very annoying. I cannot get any satisfaction from HP on this matter. Can anyone provide any suggestions? Thanks. |

You can find a Sam Goldwasser's article at http://www.repairfaq.org/REPAIR/F_monfaq.html He certainly knows his stuff when it comes to electronics, which I consider monitor repair and troubleshooting. I would post this same question on the sci.electronics.repair newsgroup. Sam G. shows up often in this newsgroup, answering questions and helping out, among many others, also. If you are not familiar with the newsgroups, you should be able to access them through your email program. I use Agent. Hope this helps. |
