acer open ap 53 Pentium mother board sometimes want detect hardrive on channel one,and if you do get it to detect it and boot to a floopy boot disk and do a dir on c drive its say c drive cannot be read.i have went through bios settings and also reset bios using the reset jumper with no change.also have used several different hard drives with no change.i thinking the the mother board has a problem with ide channel one.any advice or solutions would be appreciated

couldn't hurt to swap out the cables.

Are the drives you are using brand new and unpetitioned?

Also, yes, try a new cable, and make sure its in tight.

If you can, test the drive in another computer, a friends, whatever, see if it detects every time in the bios.

If it does, well, you have a cable or a mobo problem, not a drive problem.

BTW I just hated the ACER Pentium 1 series boards cause they were plagued with little problems like this. Just my opinion in case any ACER lawyers actually read this post - LOL
