I installed a new modem in the case, the computer booted and recognized the modem on attempt #1, but the software would not load and now, the system will not detect the modem even when I run the wizzard or at start up on subsequent attempts. It says it's a cirrus logic fax/vox modem, and I'm at wit's end on this one. Any Idea's out there? |

I installed a modem and it shows on com port 4, but the com ports in my device manager show 2 and 3. When I attempt to go online using the modem the computer responds my port is invalid. How do I change the designation of com ports 2 or 3 to 4 so the modem wlll work? |

I run a 586 AMD 13, 64Meg ram, and I installed a PNP 156k modem. Initially there was an irq conflict, but having sorted that out, it now says that the processor will not support the modem. The processor itself says on it 'supports windows 95' and has the flying windows logo. I don't have another processor faster than 133M, so I tried a 486/66, now I'm really confused!!!! Re-fitting the old (133) processor has restored the machine, but the non-compatibility still exists, even after I tried a known working modem. |
