Hi, I have a VERY small (20x20x20cm)monitor, I would like to put it on my web-router, so I can check if everything still is well. Is there a way of converting a CGA plug to a monochrome VGA or where can I find the details of how to do this???

CGA uses digital signals between the video adapter and the monitor and the conversion from digital to analog occurs inside the monitor. This is also true for the old green or amber monochrome monitors and for EGA monitors, in fact just about anything with a 9 pin socket on the video card (There are exceptions you have to beware of, as always.)
VGA, and SVGA, convert the digital info into analog on the video card and send an analog signal (actually 3, 1 red, 1 green, 1 blue) to the monitor.
The only way for you to use this monitor, if it is a CGA, is with a CGA video card.
Notice I said *if* it is CGA. Just because it has a 9 pin socket or cable doesn't guarantee that. If you'll e-mail me the monitor's brand name, model number, FCC ID number, and a description of the location and labeling of any controls accessible to the user without taking the monitor apart, I might be able to advise you further. |
