I get the following message whenever I try to use my CD-Rom: "{program name} cannot find the files needed to start. either the disk is not inserted, or the pathto the files is incorrect. To correct this, insert the disk or run setup again |

How are you trying to access the CD-Rom? I am assuming through the software you are trying to run. It could be any number of things. Does the CD-Rom appear in the Directory stucture? (If you right click on "My Computer" and choose "Explore" can you see the CD Rom there?) If it is not there, when you go to your control panel, and "system" is the CD-Rom listed there under devices? Does it have a conflict? Have you recently changed or added anything to your machine? If you have multiple CD-Roms, and installed the software from drive "D" (example letter only) and then put the CD in drive "E" when you next tried to run it, you will get that error message. Your ribbon cable could be loose or damaged (assuming again, that it is an internal drive. Your drivers may be corrupted. Or... your CD-Rom could be knackered..... |
