bought a TNT2 for my kid's p166mmx comp. it doesn't work in their mobo nor their spare but works fine in my xeon450 spearfish mobo. any clues to how i can make this work for them. both their mobo's work with some junk pci video cards i have (bad memory on them)so it would show the mobo's aren't at fault as far as being non-working. any help out there? thanks |

additional info (paste): there was no manual to read. the original mobo is an Aopen and the spare is a MainBoard. the original card was a pci S3 virge that just died. the system never starts because of the new TNT2 card for whatever reason but either of the other two video cards which both have bad memory on them boot just fine. running win98 and have not removed the other cards from device manager but because of not starting at all i don't believe this is the cause of this particular problem. if i get past the boot problem i know how to deal with that issue if it arises. correct me if i a m mistaken. the Aopen mobo has all jumper info printed on the board and the MainBoard mobo has a manual so neither of these are presenting any jumper difficulty as both are very straightforward. if you need more info please ask specifically so i don't have to type a book trying to guess what else might be relevant. the testing setup is on a bench with known non-issue power supplies and monitor, only the cpu and ram installed, with and without the hdd with the operating system installed and nothing else besides the mouse and keyboard so it's not a device conflict. |
