I have a compaq 7000T build and a sony multiscan 200sx monitor.
for some reason, when it it necessary to disconnect & reconnect the peripherals, (the power supply went out) the monitor when re-connected loses only the red channel. this also has happened when adding a peripheral, which makes me suspect an addressing problem. last time, I fixed it by re-installing the color profile, but it isn't working this time. I have removed and re-detected just about all the devices, color profiles, drivers etc. we have ruled out hardware failure in the monitor itself. does anyone have another idea?

Sounds like your losing a signal from the interface card. I would look at the cable ends first for pushed pins then look at the card for bad connections (like bad solder joints).Try another monitor if possible to eliminate those parts. Over all, one color dropout is usually a connection problem.
