Please Help!

I'm running IE5 on Windows 98SE. I recently developed DNS errors which I've found out are due a 'stuck refresh'. (Occurred 24 March)
Trying to replace file "shdoclc.dll".
Microsoft won't send it to this machine as it's running IE5.5. How do I get the correct version?
I have had IE 5.5 in the past but had to format my pc because of it so I don't really want to upgrade.
My version is Internet Explorer 5.00.2314.1000.
Any help would be excellent as I'm now getting desperate..!

email me. i might be able to send it to you, then do an sfc and replace it. what version of shdoclc.dll do you have now? also, is this IE5 without sp1 or 2? or the original version IE5. it matters as you will get errors if you don't have the correct version.

are you sure it is that file? usually it's shdocvw.dll that gives troubles. or webcheck.dll.

Upgrade to 5.1 SP2 & you get the repair feature . John .

Thank you both for your help. I checked out the MS page and yes I'm pretty sure it's what I need.
My problem now is how to get it. The pc I'm using belongs to someone else and is running IE5.5, so even if it will accept the download, MS only send the parts needed. Also MS doesn't just send the item, it installs it - no choice offered.
I've tried working round it using Download Accelorator.
Also I previously had IE5.5 on my pc, but it messed it up so bad I had to reformat.
Any suggestions how I can get the Service Pack?
Much Thanks.

[PS Did you happen to notice that the latest release is dated 23 March - within 12 hours of my browser going kaputt - coincidence?]

Wow!
Hey after nearl;y 3 weeks going round in circles - I'm finally in! and the icing on the top = connection rates back to 52k after I'd accepted never getting above 36k ever.
The original cause of my problem had something to do with api.dll's and active-x's (don't ask me).
Anyway the solution was to uninstall and manually remove all winsock, tcp and dial-up thingys.
Including registry twiddles, which was really scary (esp. as half way I realised i hadn't backed up fully!).
Anyway full details in MS knowledge base articles Q241344 and Q181599. Horrible stuff i wouldn't wish on anyone...
But now quite chuffed with myself! :}
