I have a machine that boots up to the clouds.bmp background, but there are no icons and no taskbar or anything. The mouse moves and clicks, but cannot right click a menu. No hot keys work either. When booting into safe mode, everything is there and the display settings are fine.
I've started with a minimal driver setup and still get nothing.... hellllllllllllp!

hi
since you can boot into safemode, have you tried running your system information utility in system tools? check out the menu under tools heading,
particularly system file checker. try them and see if it fixes it. check back when you find the fix
