I created a floppy to start Windows if anything happens but after it runs, what do I do at the A prompt?

Everything I type in says invalvid command.

Also, please check the Internet Explorer 5 problem board as I have a message there that you might be able to help me with.

Thank you so much.

The startup floppy contains utilities to help troubleshoot a windows boot problem. Some of them are:

1. fdisk--used for partitioning a new harddrive or to remove the partitions on an existing drive. In both cases formating is next.
2. format--which is used to prepare a disk for installing windows.
3. scandisk-- used for scanning the harddisk surface and file system for errors.

Boot to windows. Open the floppy to view the different utilities on it. Do a search for them to find out what they are and how they are used.

It helps to learn a little about MS DOS to know how to work at the command prompt.

Thanks Vera,
I know less than nothing about DOS but I will learn. This old dog can still learn some new tricks.

Thanks again,
Arlene
