Is there a site for specific hardware problems /compatability with Windows XP Pro ?

I just installed it on my sons machine, and suddenly I have some very unusual behavior.

After installing the OS( no problems), I tried to install Norton System Works (version 2002). As soon as I clicked on "Install" - the machine rebooted.
I tried again - hoping it hade been a fluke, and again - REBOOT.
After the second restart, the machine will not complete its boot process. It gets to the WIN XP splash screen and reboots itself.

Supposedly, all of the hardware is XP compatable, and I did a clean format and install.

Any suggestions?

Matt

What you may have going on is its set to reboot on errors. Boot up in safe mode and
turn off auto reboot so you can see the error.
it's in control panel - system - on the advanced tab, under startup and recovery.

For tips and some trouble shooting try below.

No such luck.

Sometimes the OS starts fine, and has no problem until you try to read someting from a CD. I am wondering if the power supply is bad - it is pretty old.

I'll try that and post back......
