I am running windows98 and in an entry in the device manager under other devices I have a question mark, within this is an exclamation mark that refers to the PCI System Management Bus, can someone please let me know what is the purpose of the PCI Management Bus and isdo the drivers needed refer to the motherboard, processor or what? |

A question mark by system management bus usually means that the motherboard chipset isn't recognized by the operating system. I would say to download the motherboard drivers and install them. Via chipset=Via 4in1, Intel=PIIX4 for older 440LX or EX chipset, 810 815 820 845 and 850 Intel chipsets all have their own. SiS chipset drivers are at www.sis.com.tw Alladin chipset drivers are at the motherboard manufacturers page as well as AMD chipset. |
