My mother has recently bought her first computer an 850 amd, 256 ram, 20 gig hd, windows Me, and an epson printer. She has been getting spool errors and we were told that is an error with the printer. I went to epson web site and downloaded the driver it recommended and it still does this. Any help would be appreciated my Mother is driving me crazy over this.

Thanks
Darren

Sounds to me like you still have some strange driver installed from previous. Uninstall all printer drivers and reinstall the fresh downloaded driver. I had the same problem with a Lexmark and the new drivers cured the spool and spool32 errors only after I deleted the old drivers and installed the WinMe compliant driver.

ES,
What model Lexmark ?...and which driver did you use? I have a 3200 that I cannot seem to cure (spool32.exe causing various errors)and I can't find the right driver files. Where ?

Darren,
What I found was that anything that used Internet Explorer as its viewer (especially web pages) was likely to cause the Spool errors.
If you cannot replace the drivers yet, try copying what you want to print on to a Word doc and printing from there.
Apparently IE uses spool32.exe and Word does not.

Just a temporary fix, though - the driver fix is a better solution.

Darren, use word wrap if you can so page sizes don't over run. SHTML to text can be awful.

Matt, have you tried Opera 6.0 web browser? Very nice and very fast without the I.E. bloat.

Oh, and one other thing Matt, they (Lexmark)say that the driver posted on the websight is not an update but it is a different version from the driver that came with my 3200.
