I'm no comp. expert. I was 'exploring my computer' and I changed something, somewhere, and now if I open my favourites file and click on to one, the file just closes, nothing happens. I noticed that the small icons on the left side of the list have all changed to the same icon. I have Windows ME. Hope someone can help!! btw, I have tried system restore but it tells me that no changes have been made. Thanks!!

Might try an Internet Explorer repair. This is done by going to control panel then add remove programs. Choose explorer and you should be given an option to repair.

Kevin, I tried what you suggested but I couldn't see I E on the screen. Probably too complicated for me to understand, but I have stumbled on to a cure for my problem. Because you suggested I do something with Inter. Exp. I went into the Help section of my computer and typed in Int. Exp. It came up with the heading, Resetting Int. Exp. Web Settings. It told me to go to tools menu, click Internet Options, click Programs tab, click Reset Web Settings and bingo, it worked. I can open my favourites folders now. Thank you very much for your help.
