Can anyone tell me if its normal for windows me to look for the floppy drive before shut down?
if it is why does it do it? If its not normal how can I keep it from doing it?

I don't believe thats normal, at least its never happened with my version. When it searchs for the floopy drive does it say it can't find it, and then you have to click cancel in order for it to shut off? Or does it just run the drive while its shutting off?

Yes thats perfectly normal. I thought you meant that it was trying to write to the floppy every time you shut it off. If it just runs it though thats fine.
