When I look in my device manger,(Win 95)....It tells me, under "Performance" tab, that my system...a long list here...is running in "Dos Compatible Mode"....and that the system will not function at its best...
How would I go about changing this?

thanks

Are there exclamation marks on the IDE controllers? If that's the case, the drivers for harddisk controllers need to be re-installed.

I had the same problem and it caused my cd-rom to not function. I racked brain for about 3 months trying to fix it. I finally fixed it when I ran Norton antivirus. It turned out that I had the NYB virus on my system. I cleaned it and it is working fine, now.
