hi, I have a PC with Windows 2000 and I'm having problems with getting a modem to work. I've tried a few different new modems and for each the install wizard gives me a message saying that the "data is invalid." I've tried downloaded drivers from the manufactures but the problem persists. Now when I took it to a reputable computer repair shop the tech encountered the same problem. He thinks its something in Windows 2000 that's causing the problem - he checked the Microsoft website but there wasn't anything there that could help. I tried a clean install like he said but that didn't help either. So has anyone had the same problem and if so can you offer any help? Thanks. Stewart |

possibly change the slot the card is in if it's PNP. see if 2k detects it, or else you may have to try changing a bios setting either for the irq, or the com (serial) port. |
