My machine boots up but when it gets to the screen where the icons and start button should appear I get a fatal error message saying press any key to continue or ctrl alt del to restart. If a key is pressed the screen turns light blue as if the desktop is about to appear but it never does. Pressing ctrl alt del causes the same thing to happen again. All this started when a new motherboard was installed, an Epox 3vwb+, and the drivers were installed. There were 4 pci cards that had exclamation marks in device manager and the network card controller. After the drivers were installed for these devices and the machine was restarted all of this started happening. I was going into device manager to remove them but now I can't get there. Any suggestions for a fix will be greatly appreciated. I'm not a technician so please explain accordingly.

What operating system are you useing?. Meanwhile you might try booting up in safe mode to gain access to your operating system.

if this was done with a current operating system installed, you have to uninstall the drivers for the old board, and install the drivers for the current board, and possibly re-install the drivers for the rest of the hardware. optimally, i'd save whatever data you need and re-install fresh. less issues that way.

Thanx Cecil and Win. Once I found how to get into safemode I did as suggested and everything is fine. Many blessings upon you both!
