Hi!
I'm trying to stop popups by not allowing scripts but the "custom level" button is greyed out in tools/internet options/security/custom level section. Could you please tell me how to ungrey it?
I've got IE6 and Windows98.
I'd be extremely grateful if someone could help cos my computer costs me a fortune in phone bills as it is (old and really slow).
Thanks in Advance,
Joe

Try clicking on default level if that doesn't work, reinstall IE6.

Default Level is greyed out as well unfortunately!...It'll cost me a fortune to reinstall it...hours and hours to download it so I'm hoping someone might know what to change in the registry! I know it's something simple! I had a problem with homepage option being greyed out before and it was just a matter of making a small change using regedit.

Try this:

Shut down Internet Explorer.

Go to Start > Run, type Regedit.

Navigate to HKEY_Current_User\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Click once on this Control Panel subkey (subfolder) to highlight it, and then hit 'delete'.

Close Regedit, and reboot.

The restrictions will have been removed.

Good luck,

By the way, does deleting that folder affect anything else?

Your Welcome and no it doesn't affect anything else. It just removed any and all restrictions.
